ELISA BOYD, QWEL
Landscape Designer

Elisa’s path to becoming an integral part of our team began with a deep-rooted passion for the natural world and a keen understanding of how thoughtful design can shape our environment. Born in Boulder, Colorado, Elisa found her way to Bozeman, Montana, over a decade ago, drawn by its rugged beauty and the ecological richness of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. Her educational journey started at Montana State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Horticulture and Landscape Design, followed by a Master of Science in Plant Pathology. These academic achievements laid the foundation for her expertise in plant health, sustainable landscaping, and ecosystem management.

Elisa’s commitment to sustainability took shape early in her career, where she recognized the importance of water conservation in landscape design. This passion led her to become a certified Qualified Water Efficient Landscaper (QWEL), enabling her to perform in-depth irrigation audits. Through these audits, she helps ensure clients’ irrigation systems run efficiently, conserving water and reducing waste—an essential practice in today’s climate-conscious world.

As Elisa’s career has evolved, so has her dedication to growing her expertise. She is currently preparing to take the Landscape Architect Registration Examination (LARE) to become a licensed landscape architect, a step that underscores her drive for continuous learning and excellence. Her aim is to elevate her contributions, not just to our projects but to the broader field of landscape architecture.

Elisa’s connection to the land doesn’t end with her workday. Whether riding horseback through Montana’s open fields, skiing fresh powder, or hiking the region’s rugged trails, she immerses herself in the landscapes she strives to protect. This personal connection fuels her work, informing her eco-conscious and innovative designs that embody our Smartscaping principles. She believes that landowners have a profound role in environmental stewardship, and she is committed to guiding them in making choices that honor Montana’s natural legacy.

Elisa’s blend of expertise, passion, and hands-on experience makes her a leader in our mission to create landscapes that are not only visually stunning but also ecologically responsible. Her story is a testament to dedication, love for the outdoors, and an unwavering commitment to sustainability.
